Summer in the City Climate Videos Released by WMO

WMO in partnership with Climate Central launched a new series of a dozen videos on “Summer in the City” contributed by weather presenters.  The videos will be subtitled in English, French, and Spanish. They each conclude with an encouraging statement by Miguel Mancera, Mayor of Mexico City and Vice Chair of C40 Cities for Latin America.

Watch the “summer in the city” climate reports on the WMO YouTube channel here and WMO is also  using the hashtag #cityheat on Twitter

Urban Meteorology Course 28 Aug – 8 Sep 2017 Malaysia

Gelang Patah, Malaysia (University of Reading Malaysia Campus)

This training course will cover all aspects of urban meteorology, environment (including air quality) and climate. By the end of the course participants will be able to critique siting of instrumentation in urban areas, undertake modelling of urban areas and know how to deliver climate services in urban areas.

Detailed Description

This course is part of the WMO education and training programme.

All participants are required to register to apply for a place on the course.  This is done by completing a purchase (FREE OF CHARGE) on this system (see link below).   Following registration, participants will be sent an application form by email which should be returned no later than 14 July.  The number of spaces on the course is limited to 25 participants. The local cost of the training course is 450 GBP (578 CHF) which will cover course fees, accommodation, breakfast and lunch.

Training Workshops: Data Assimilation and Intro to the WRF model
