Postdoctoral researcher: urban climate modeling for heatwaves; University of Reading

We are seeking to appoint an outstanding Postdoctoral researcher with expertise in multi-scale urban climate modelling to join our NERC-funded research project COSMA to understand the overheating risk and heatwaves in South Asian counties using Sri Lanka as a case study.  The main goal of the work will be to undertake multi-scale climate modeling (urban and building scales) and overheating risk mapping.

The post will be jointly supervised by myself at the School of the Built Environment, and Prof Sue Grimmond and Dr Ting Sun from Department of Meteorology, both at the University of Reading, UK. The post-holder will also benefit from working with experts in different disciplines including meteorology, architecture, planning, engineering and social science within the research team.

School of the Built Environment and Department of Meteorology at the University of Reading are two world-leading research groups in the UK. In REF 2014, School of the Built Environment was ranked 6th in Architecture, Built Environment and Planning, and Department of Meteorology was ranked 3rd in Earth Systems & Environmental Sciences.
